GEAR REVIEW: NEMEAN BY GUILD OF MODDERS

In this review we’re taking a look at the Nemean mod by Guild of Modders PH (GoMPH.)

The Nemean is a delrin encased single 18650 mechanical mod. I managed to squeeze into the First Fifty at the GoMPH Facebook page after they put out an interest list. I’ve always wanted to try a side firing mechanical mod – mainly because it was easy to use and hold and also I wanted to see its mechanism (the way it works, how it looks like when disassembled etc.)
The first thing that hooked me in was the profile of the delrin body. It has unique curves and is contoured to fit the hand. I imagined it to be a bit bigger especially when I based my assumption on the photos but when I got it, I was surprised at how small it really is. It’s a good surprise though. I can’t imagine it being any bigger while still just being a single 18650 mod.
Here are the pros and cons in my opinion...
Pros:

Aesthetics – I like the overall look of the mod. The delrin body is contoured to fit your hand. The Nemean has an aggressive but classy stance meaning you can whip it out on regular days and still carry it along with your dress clothes for more formal events. I believe the Nemean is a product of good design and even better execution. The signature diagonal ribbed engraving on the copper tube along with the “50” marking make it stand out even among the later release Nemeans.

Machining – This is probably where the Nemean shines when compared to other side firing encased tube mechanical mods in the market right now. GoMPH made sure that every unit was well-machined, otherwise it wouldn’t work, more so be sent to their proper owners. There are no burrs on the threads which is always a good sign. The delrin body was smooth to the touch and the removable top cap had grooves on the top and bottom parts so users can easily take it off when it gets stuck.
Power – Although the Nemean is not a hybrid mech mod, it still hits quite hard thanks to the copper tube, contacts, and brass bottom contact.
Safety – The traditional 510 pin accepts even attys with non-protruding pins. That’s a plus especially since safety is one of the top if not the first concern when it comes to vaping. The whole top contact assembly sandwiches a thick delrin insulator that prevents accidental contact. The firing button is also fitted with peek insulator (the other firing button is made of delrin.) Also, users can opt to unscrew the firing button a bit to prevent accidental firing even when inside a bag or a pocket. Plus for that.

Grip – This has to be one of my most favorite things about the Nemean. It just sits well in your hand. It’s just the right size and the contour of the grip is perfect for my hand.
Freebies – the First Fifty Nemeans come with a cool delrin GoMRat or beauty ring to protect your atty and topcap from scratches. There’s also a spare black delrin button inside the when I received the mod. GoMPH did not spare any expense in the packaging – My Nemean came in a beautiful box with red felt lining and a greeting card from the modder. Great touch, IMO.

Cons:

Price – The Nemean doesn’t come cheap. It has a price tag of P4,000 and that may be a bit too much for other people especially since it’s a single 18650 mod. But for the quality you get, it’s a small price to pay.

Parts – The Nemean has a lot of parts. And I emphasize on “A LOT.” First time users may get overwhelmed with the sheer amount of parts needed to make this mod work.
Weight – the delrin Nemean is a bit on the heavy side. So if you’re used to lightweight tube mods or mechanical mods, the Nemean may not be for you.
Cleaning – Given the number of parts needed in assembly, cleaning can be quite tricky with this mod. If you want to really keep the mod in tip-top shape, you’d have to purposely take out each part and scrub them all the way down or polish them up for that brand new shiny look.
Firing button and encased tube heating - I've experienced heating from the firing button and encased tube itself. It's expected to happen especially when using low ohm builds and chain vaping. I believe this one's subjective and can also be considered a pro since it can be an indicator to rest your mod after consecutive pulls/long drag hits.

TLDR Summary: A great side firing mechanical mod. The firing switch is easy to use and can be adjusted to fit any user’s preferred throw – short or hard press. When you take it all apart and assemble it again, you’ll see how detailed and purpose-driven each piece is. It’s like looking at the inner mechanism of a wrist watch. Congratulations to the team behind GoMPH. Excellent job on the Nemean.
Would I buy one again? Yes, if I had that much money to spare. But my First Fifty Nemean is for keeps. It’s one of those mods that you won’t get tired of using.
Other photos used are from Craig Ecleo (my hand check photos won’t do justice to how this mod really looks. Luckily, bro Craig agreed to let me use his photos for the sake of this review) and Guild of Modders PH. You may join the group here.
