FIRST IMPRESSIONS: REAPER TUBE MOD BY BMB CREATIONS

Fresh from the mail, we take a quick look at the Reaper mechanical tube mod by BMB Creations.

This came in the mail just yesterday. I was eager to try it after seeing the power checks on the BMB Creations tech support group. A quick shout out to sir Brettmichaels Banzon of BMB Creations.

First impressions:

- accepts single 18650 cell

- 24mm tube mod with stainless steel outer tubing and force fitted copper inner tube

- tube body is probably less than 24mm due to deep etching for the graphics (will measure it and post findings on the upcoming review)

- hybrid top cap connection with 4 vent holes (2 on both sides of the top cap)

- top cap design is similar to AV "top hat" top caps

- firing base is also made of copper tubing cased in stainless steel

- soft to medium throw on the switch

- firing button makes a clicky sound

- unique battery rattle adjustment (can fit different lengths of atty threading and 510 pin)

- embossed Reaper graphics and serial number (I got 009)

- white delrin firing base insulator and button

- tube mod comes in coffin styled box with pyrography markings

- quick ramp up thanks to the all copper firing pin and hybrid connection

- lightweight despite of ss externals

- deceivingly short overall length

- minimal heating (body dissipates heat well, switch assembly will get warm if you run low ohm builds on it and hit it with consecutive fires, currently running a 0.07 ohm Lucid Wires dual alien coils on it)

- noticeable power from the get go

- tube design and graphics will probably be a hit in international market

The most remarkable thing about the Reaper is its power. Next would be the intricate details of the graphics. Minimal tube heating and almost zero hot button issue (that other tube mods with metal firing button usually have) are coming close at third place. So far, so good.

It's great to see a local modder put a different spin on the classic tube mod. The copper insert is not new but in my opinion, was done so well that it merits credit. I'm excited to put this tube mod to different tests. Complete breakdown photos and review will follow.
