FIRST IMPRESSIONS: PHANTOM X TUBE MOD BY PHANTOM MODS PH

Mech users know that a good tube mod is hard to beat. Today, we take a look at the Phantom X tube mod.

First impressions:

- accepts a single 18650 cell

- 24mm copper tube body

- this one is the black coated engraved edition

- deep "PHANTOM X" engraving on tube body

- tall mech mod compared to others in the local market

- heavy, feels substantial in the hands

- comes with a hybrid disc and 510 pin top cap

- pure silver internals on both top and bottom contacts
- no arcing issues

- pure copper button and housing

- mixed brass and silver spring (tapered on one end)

- smooth firing mechanism, long throw

- no hot button issues despite copper button material

- distinguishable power

- minimal tube heating even with super low sub-ohm builds (currently running below 0.10 ohm aliens on Sony VTC5a)

- Phantom Mods can provide with additional ss top caps and firing button housing

- battery adjustment is a breeze thanks to the delrin insulator on both top cap and button housing

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is what comes to mind when I use the Phantom X tube mod. The design is great -- worthy of the name 'competition tube mod' in my opinion. I've been meaning to get my hands on one for the last few months and I'm honestly impressed. I've only had it for a few days and I can already say that this is a high quality Ph-made mod.

Phantom X mods are sold in limited quantity batches. They do personalized decals and serials and have different variants: copper engraved, black coated copper engraved, black coated copper decals, brass engraved, black coated brass decals, and aluminum. Their new mod Spectre is currently in the works -- it accepts both 18650 and 20700 cells.
